The Community Economic Defense Project was launched in February, 2020, spurred by an acute need in Colorado for eviction defense and homelessness prevention in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Led by our clients and community partners, we offer programs to keep low-income renters and homeowners housed and invest in community wealth.
Today, CEDP is one of Colorado’s largest anti-poverty organizations. We provide legal aid and rental assistance to more than 10,000 people facing eviction annually.
About CEDP
Our nationally recognized eviction diversion model combines rapid rental aid payments, legal services, rehousing services, and a client-advised organizing program.
We braid this financial assistance with pro bono legal representation through CED Law, our 17-attorney housing law firm. Our attorneys handle complex litigation, habitability disputes, and fair housing claims.
These programs are complemented by housing navigation, housing counseling, post-eviction transitional support, and rapid response and case management. We also have a call center that addresses more than 120,000 housing and eviction related questions annually.
